Steve Jobs resigns from Apple, Inc.

Steve Jobs, the iconic man behind the global consumer brand Apple Company, resigns as CEO.

Steve recently had applied for a leave to focus on his health, and now he's leaving his post as CEO, giving the position to Tim Cook, Apple's COO and Steve's co-founder. Steve will still be chairman, and will continue to guide the company giving his "unique insights, creativity and inspiration.

In a letter addressed to Apple's board and the "Apple community," Jobs said he "always said if there ever came a day when I could no longer meet my duties and expectations as Apple's CEO, I would be the first to let you know. Unfortunately, that day has come."
